Three Ways to Get Your Taxes Prepared Free

Find a VITA Site to Prepare Your Taxes for Free

At a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Site (VITA Site), your taxes will be prepared by a trained and certified volunteer. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. The VITA program is designed for military, elderly, disabled, ESL households and all households whose income is $50,000 or less.

Find a Benefit Bank Site to Prepare Your Taxes for Free

At a Benefit Bank site, your taxes will be prepared by a trained Benefit Bank Counselor. The Benefit Bank (TBB) also allows you to easily complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you’re likely eligible for public benefits, like food stamps or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), then a TBB Counselor can also help you complete those applications. Benefit Bank sites are located at community organizations, like neighborhood centers, churches, and community colleges.

Prepare Your Own Taxes Online for Free

The Benefit Bank Self-Serve allows individuals or households making less than $60,000 in 2011 to prepare their taxes for free. TBB uses simple prompting questions to walk you through completing the proper tax forms. FAFSA completion is also available through TBB Self-Serve. It is easier than you think!
